Strictly a mechanical thermostat for cooling only, it is simple to use and economical. It operates with a gas filled probe on a 6-foot capillary tube. When the gas contracts or expands in the probe, it triggers a mechanical device inside the control which turns the power on or off. There is no probe temperature readout on the dial, so keeping a thermometer inside the refrigerator is highly recommended to keep track of the actual temperature. On most refrigerators, the controller will allow a usable range of 37 to 80 F, while on freezers, the controller will be able to reach its full 20 to 80 F range. *Keep in mind that if you use it to control a refrigerator, you will lose the use of the freezer compartment for food storage, as it will not stay cold enough for safe frozen food storage. Replacing Your Water Filter

For side-by-side refrigerators with filter access in the base grille, follow these instructions for replacing your filter:

1. Push the eject button, then pull the filter cap. Do not twist cap.
2. Remove the filter cap by turning it counter clockwise. Set aside cap. Discard old filter.
3. Remove the packaging and O-ring covers from the new filter.
4. Align arrows on the cap and new filter. Turn clockwise to snap in place.
5. Push filter into the base grill until the eject button pops. Gently tug on cap to ensure it is snug.
6. Flush the water system until a total of 3 gallons (12 L) has been dispensed.
